<p>Après presque 30000 heures de travail, le Hawker Hurricane Mk I V7497 G-HRLI reconstruit par Hawker Restorations Ltd a effectué son nouveau 1<sup>er</sup> vol le 30 août dernier sur le terrain d&rsquo;Elmsett à côté d&rsquo;Ispswich au Royaume-Uni avec Stuart Goldspink aux commandes.</p>
<p>Construit en août 1940, le V7497 fut versé au 501 Squadron <em>County of</em> <em>Gloucester </em>basé à RAF Kenley le 19 septembre, en pleine Bataille d&rsquo;Angleterre.<span id="more-12957"></span></p>
<p>Le 28 septembre 1940, piloté par le Pilot Officer Everett Bryan Rogers, il fut abattu lors d&rsquo;un combat contre des Bf 109.  Rogers sauta en parachute et le Hurricane s&rsquo;écrasa.</p>
<p>L&rsquo;épave fut évacuée et ce qui en restait fut découvert des années plus tard lors de fouilles archéologiques effectuées dans les années 80, y compris la plaque constructeur. Tony Ditheridge, fondateur de Hawker Restorations Ltd, récupéra les restes de ce Hurricane pour le remettre en état de vol.</p>

<p>Equipé d&rsquo;un Rolls-Royce Merlin III, le V7497 portent les couleurs qui étaient les siennes avec le Squadron 501 avec les codes SD-X.</p>

<p>Les essais en vol ont été terminés et le Hurricane a été convoyé à Duxford le 13 septembre dernier où il sera basé dorénavant et mis en oeuvre par l&rsquo;Aircraft Restoration Company Ltd (ARCo) de John Romain.</p>

<p>Construit par Westland à Yeovil en janvier 1941 avec le numéro constructeur Y1363 et le <em>serial</em> V9312, ce Lysander a volé successivement avec les squadrons 225, 613 et 4 de la Royal Air Force avant d’être expédié au Canada en 1942 dans le cadre du <em>Commonwealth Air Training Plan</em> ( <span style="text-decoration: underline"><a href="https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plan_d%27entra%C3%AEnement_a%C3%A9rien_du_Commonwealth_britannique" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Plan d&rsquo;entraînement aérien du Commonwealth britannique</a></span> ) à Saskatchewan.</p>

<p>Récupéré en 1972 par Harry Wherreat dans une ferme au Canada, il fut vendu en 1988 au collectionneur américain Kermit Weeks à Polk City en Floride, qui l&rsquo;immatricula N3093K en 1991. Il fut stocké de nouveau, sans qu&rsquo;aucun travail de restauration ne soit entrepris. L&rsquo;ARCo racheta le projet en 2003 et le fit immatriculer G-CCOM le 10 décembre 2003.</p>

<p>Les couleurs et marquages de l&rsquo;avion représentent ceux d&rsquo;un appareil du No 225 Squadron en octobre 1939 utilisé pour des missions de coopération militaire puis, à partir de juin 1940, pour des missions de patrouille côtière et de sauvetage en mer. Quelques détails de finition restent à terminer mais le Lysander devrait faire sa première apparition publique lors du Goodwood Revival Meeting qui aura lieu du 7 au 9 septembre 2018.</p>
<p>On compte désormais trois Lysander en état de vol : deux au Royaume-Uni et un au Canada. Un autre appareil est en cours de réparation au Canada suite à un <span style="text-decoration: underline"><a href="https://globalnews.ca/news/2771509/quick-thinking-pilot-lands-heritage-wwii-plane-in-ontario-field-after-engine-trouble/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">atterrissage forcé</a></span> intervenu en 2016.</p>

<p>L&rsquo;actualité du Spitfire est très riche en ce moment.  En effet, John Romain a procédé hier à Duxford au nouveau premier vol après réparation du Spitfire Mk V JG891/G-LFVC appartenant au collectionneur américain Dan Friedkin et sa collection Comanche Warbirds.</p>
<p>En juillet de l&rsquo;année dernière, le Spitfire avait été endommagé à l’atterrissage à Marana, en Arizona. L&rsquo;avion qui volait sous les couleurs du pilote anglais Stanford Tuck a été repeint aux couleurs de Spitfire Mk Vc JK879 piloté par le F/S John G. « Jack » Hughes du No 249 Squadron RAF à Ta Qali, à Malte en 1943.</p>

<p>Sa première présentation publique est prévue la semaine prochaine pour le <a href="https://www.flyinglegends.com/aircraft/supermarine-spitfire-mkvc-g-lfvc.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Flying Legends 2018</a>. On compte aujourd&rsquo;hui neuf Spitfire Mk V en état de vol dans le monde.</p>

<p>Le 22 avril dernier, John Romain a effectué le premier vol du Bf 109G-10 immatriculé N90602 à Madras dans l&rsquo;Oregon. Il s&rsquo;agit d&rsquo;un ancien Hispano Buchón, remotorisé avec un moteur Allison!</p>
<p>Les capots moteurs sont identiques à ceux des Bf 109G d&rsquo;origine, donnant à l&rsquo;appareil une apparence identique. Seule différence, l&rsquo;hélice est une hélice de DC-3 raccourcie. Cette remotorisation offre plusieurs avantages: apparence visuelle conforme au Bf 109G d&rsquo;origine, coût bien inférieur de moteur Allison par rapport au DB 605 d&rsquo;origine, et surtout maintenance bien plus aisée.</p>
